MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT January 2, 2022
This message is from Dave Olney, Superintendent of the Hesperia Unified School District.
I hope that you have had a wonderful break with loved ones and that everyone is excited to return back to school tomorrow, January 3rd.
I’m sure that you are aware that cases of COVID are on the rise with the new Omicron variant. The good news is that it appears to be less severe, in most cases, than previous strains. Just the same, we are aware of families that are currently dealing with health issues and ask that you keep them in your thoughts. As a reminder, students and staff should remain home if they are experiencing any COVID-related symptoms. The California Department of Public Health will soon be providing one or two at-home COVID test kits per student for each family. We anticipate receiving these kits in the next week or so and will coordinate with your school sites to allow family members to pick up the kits if you are interested.
We look forward to having our students back in school tomorrow and are committed to providing a safe learning environment, maintaining in-person instruction. We appreciate your support in this endeavor. It will take all of us working together to lessen the impact of positive cases. We will continue to keep you updated on any changes through messages and our district website at www.hesperiausd.org. I wish you all a very happy and healthy new year.

Espero que hayan tenido unas maravillosas vacaciones en compañía de sus seres queridos y espero que todos estén emocionados de regresar a clases mañana, 3 de enero.
Estoy seguro de que están informados de que los casos de COVID están aumentando con la nueva variante, Omicron. La buena noticia es que, en la mayoría de los casos, esta variante parece ser menos grave que las cepas anteriores. De todos modos, estamos conscientes de las familias que actualmente están lidiando con problemas de salud y les solicitamos que piensen en ellos. Como recordatorio, los alumnos y personal deberán permanecer en casa si experimentan algún síntoma relacionado con COVID. El Departamento de salud pública de California pronto brindará una o dos pruebas caseras para la detección de COVID por estudiante para cada familia. Anticipamos recibir estas pruebas la próxima semana y nos coordinaremos con las escuelas para permitir que las familias las recojan, si están interesadas.
Esperamos que nuestros alumnos regresen a la escuela mañana y estamos comprometidos en brindar un entorno de aprendizaje seguro, manteniendo la instrucción académica en persona. Agradecemos su apoyo en este esfuerzo. Será necesario que todos trabajemos juntos para reducir el impacto de los casos positivos.
