Last week our school joined thousands of school worldwide by participating in the Great Kindness Week Challenge. Our students and staff completed many kindness activities including making over 350 cards for residents and staff at a local retirement community. Keep spreading kindness Mesa Mustangs!

“Congratulations to our three winners for our Attendance Poster Competition: 1st place was awarded to Leona Govea, 2nd place was awarded to Aiden Uribe and 3rd place was awarded to Alexander Hernandez! Thank you to everyone who participated, you all did amazing. Keep up the great work and keep coming to school!”

Recently, we had an amazing group of parent volunteers work on and complete our new fence design along Olive Street. If you haven't seen it yet, you need to. Thank you parent volunteers for making our school even better.

Earlier this week, to start Kindness Week, Mesa staff members greeted parents and students with positive signs and happy vibes. What a great way to start the day!

So proud of all of the different after school opportunities that our students are offered. It shows that we love our students here at Mesa Grande. Here are just a few of the many after school clubs that we have. Our students love them.

Recently, Timeless Hair Studio came out to Mesa Grande and gave free haircuts to students. The students enjoyed the experience, as did the barbers. Thank you to all who made this occasion special for our students.

At Mesa, we value students working together. Recently, students tried out for our iExpo Team. To be on this team, you must be able to work well with others. That's such a great skill to have. Here are pictures of students trying out for the team. Good luck to all of them.

We are so proud of Mrs. Llacuna's 4th Grade Class for winning the Anti-Bullying Door Contest! 🎉
Their creative design showed off all the ways they are committed to being Upstanders against bullying. They celebrated their victory with apple nachos and a special visit from Mr. Ponce De Leon!
Awesome job focusing on kindness, Mustangs!

Recently, 4th graders participated in "Walk Through California," where they were able to learn about California history, from the Native Americans who lived here thousands of years ago to the present, with all of the resources California provides. Lots of learning and fun.

Our 4th graders enjoyed a special presentation from two Native American guests who shared their culture, heritage, and artifacts with the class. Students were excited to touch real items, ask questions, and listen to the beautiful traditional songs performed in the presenter’s native language. What a great learning experience for them.

Before break, our 4th graders participated in their own "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade." They were able to show off their "balloons" to other classes. These students have very creative young minds.

Congratulations to this great kid, Alena! She won third place for the Advanced Disposal drawing contest. Way to go! Look for her drawing on the side of the Advanced Disposal trucks.

Remember, next week is Thanksgiving Break. There is no school all week.

Recently, some 5th graders helped decorate our Thanksgiving boxes for our families who could use a helping hand this season. By donating their time to help others, these students are developing positive character, one of our school's values.

Come to our second "Coffee Chat" this Friday at 8:45 a.m. You will get to chat with our school counselor and school psychologist. Refreshments and childcare will be provided.
