For today's #SchoolSiteHighlight we are going to Eucalyptus Elementary. Mr. Brown and Mr. Stuart lead the production of the daily announcement video for the school. With the help of 5th grader Zaara, 6th grader Cristal, 6th grader Nicholas, 5th grader Samantha, and 5th grader Julieta, the team uses software like OBS and green screens to make their videos. These videos contain things like birthdays and events for the school.

For today's special Earth Day #SchoolSiteHighlight we are going to Mesa Grande Elementary's kindergarten class taught by Ms. Aguayo. Ms. Aguayo is preparing today's youngest students for tomorrow's world with interactive Earth Day science activities. Students learned valuable facts about recycling, the ozone, air pollution, and water conservation. Students also got to paint their own planet Earth.

Last weekend Hesperia Junior High hosted our annual iExpo. The purpose of Hesperia Unified School District’s Imagination Expo (iExpo) is to inspire students to become next-generation innovators and leaders. Each Challenge at iExpo is open-ended and enables students to learn and experience the creative and engineering process from imagination to innovation. While working to solve our Challenges, teams learn 21st-century skills (creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, citizenship, and courage). Thank you to Hesperia Junior High and their staff for hosting, to the parents for attending and cheering on the students, and to the coaches and teachers for getting the kids ready to compete. Congratulations to our winners and a job well done to all the teams that participated. We look forward to next year's event! Here is a video overviewing the event: https://live.myvrspot.com/iframe?v=fNDA5YTBhZjM1YzczNmJkZWRlY2UyYzBlMjdjMGY5OWY

For today's #SchoolSiteHighlight we are going Cypress and Mr. Scroggins' class to get a view of how he teaches SEL (social emotional learning). Every morning all Cypress teachers lead instruction on character traits that align with a CASEL competency trait. This month's character trait is responsibility, and the CASEL trait is responsible decision making. Mr. Scroggins' class is doing a blooket assignment and classroom discussion on responsible decision making, informed decision making, and prioritization. Today's lesson also emphasized the importance of involving parents in the decision making process. Thank you to Mr. Scroggins for welcoming us to his class and for all you do for our students.
