For today's #SchoolSiteHighlight we visit Mojave. With new funding from Prop 28 this year, which funds the arts, Mojave High School has launched a robust after school program that offers students the chance to take courses in the arts that can't be offered during the school day. The most popular course this year has been the Photography course taught by Ms. Misha Padilla. Students learn the different settings and features of high-quality cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment. Students express their creativity in many fun ways using film as their medium. At the end of the term, once they’ve learned how to take portraits, many students have taken their own senior portraits for the yearbook. Each day students learn a new technique, take notes, and then take their own photo using the technique, making sure to “own” their work by giving it a creative title. Students vote on the best photo each day and at the end of the term, take an exam covering the techniques. Throughout the term students have demonstrated the utmost respect for the equipment and have taken their assignments very seriously. Over the course of the term students learn photography techniques such as: The Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, Filling the Frame, Color Theory Techniques, Black and White High Contrast, Birds Eye View, Worms Eye View, Forced Perspective, Finding Texture and Patterns, and Studio Portraits.

For today's #SchoolSiteHighlight we head to Kingston. The Kingston Girls Who Code Club met on Tuesdays afterschool from September 2025 to March 2026. The teacher moderators were Mrs. Banuelos and Mrs. Wharton. Students engaged in sisterhood activities and learned how to code graphics and create music using the music lab on code.org.

They had their culminating Open House Tuesday, March 17, 2026 and welcomed parents, families, teachers, and administration. Among their open house guests they had our Hesperia Unified School District Superintendent, Dr. Michelle Smith supporting our Girls Who Code Club at Kingston. Thank you to all the girls, parents, teachers, admin., and moderators for an amazing year of coding.

Sultana IT Pathway students recently visited the San Bernardino Department of Public Health for their Pathfinder Day that explored DPH's IT department. Students were given different real life scenarios that they had to solve. The students were able to use the skills that they learn in my class to troubleshoot DPH's computers as well as meet their incredible staff. During the trip they touched on web development, help desk support, networking, computer hardware and software support. They went through their amazing growing career field and what the students need to do to work in this field.

We just wrapped up an incredible two-day professional development series with about 80 dedicated teachers!
These educators spent their time learning new ways to support our students and make our classrooms even better. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we can’t wait to see these strategies in action. Thank you to our staff for their dedication to our students!

Today's #SchoolSiteHighlight brings us to Topaz where we have more students hopeful of catching some leprechauns. Tuesday was full of collaboration, creativity, and a little bit of luck at Topaz! 🍀

Their 6th grade scholars from Ms. Cook’s class teamed up with their kindergarten scholars from Mrs. Tate’s class to design and build leprechaun traps. In just 45 minutes, these groups worked together using strong communication and creative thinking to bring their ideas to life—and many of their traps were fully functional!

It was incredible to see their older students step into leadership roles while the youngest scholars shared their imagination and excitement.

Great teamwork all around—we are so proud of our scholars! 💚✨

#SchoolSiteHighlight We are so proud of the Scorpions at Hesperia High School! This week, our campus hosted the powerful Every 15 Minutes program. This event helps our students understand the real dangers of drunk driving and the importance of making safe choices. 🚁 Real-World Learning Our students didn't just hear about safety in a classroom—they saw it in action. This hands-on experience brought the community together to show the "real world" impact of the decisions we make. Highlights from the event included: A Staged Car Crash: Students watched a realistic scene to see how first responders work during an emergency. A Helicopter Landing: A medical helicopter landed right on campus to show how victims are rushed to help. Life Lessons: Students talked about how to keep themselves and their friends safe behind the wheel. ❤️ A Huge Thank You Events like this take a lot of teamwork! We want to give a massive shout-out to the people who made this possible: Hesperia High School Staff for their hard work and dedication to our students. San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office and the Hesperia Unified School Police Department. All the law enforcement and first responders who spent their time teaching our kids. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and prepared for the future!

What an amazing day in the Hesperia Unified School District! Today, we opened our doors for our annual Principal for the Day event. We loved having our local community leaders step into the shoes of our hardworking principals to see all the great things happening on our campuses! 🍔 A "Backyard BBQ" to Remember To wrap up the day, everyone met at the District Office for a reflective luncheon. But this wasn't just any lunch, it was a full Backyard BBQ feast! Our talented Culinary CTE students showed off their real-world skills by planning, prepping, and serving a delicious meal. On the menu: Smoky Tri-tip 🥩 Creamy Mac n Cheese 🧀 Fresh Watermelon 🍉 ...and so much more! 🌟 Student Stars A huge shout-out to the students and teachers from these high schools who worked together to make this happen: Hesperia High Oak Hills High Sultana High Mojave High Canyon Ridge High These students really outdid themselves today! ❤️ Thank You, Community! We want to say a giant THANK YOU to all the community leaders who spent their time with us today. Your support helps make our schools a better place for every student. We love seeing our community and schools work together!

For today's #SchoolSiteHighlight we go to Joshua Circle for some 🍀✨ St. Patrick’s Day Fun! ✨🍀

Joshua Circle's third graders got creative this St. Patrick’s Day with a fun at-home project—designing and building their very own leprechaun traps! 🪤🌈 Students teamed up with their families to dream big, build creatively, and bring their ideas to life.

Those who participated proudly brought their traps to school to share and present with their classmates—it was amazing to see the imagination, effort, and teamwork on display! 👏💚

The fun didn’t stop there! Throughout the day, students also took part in engaging activities to learn more about St. Patrick’s Day and its traditions. 🍀📚

We loved seeing so much creativity and school spirit!
