A group of students from our CTE Criminal Justice pathways at Sultana and Hesperia high schools had the opportunity to participate in the Law and Public Safety Conference hosted at the Dorothy Inghram Learning Center in San Bernardino. Students spent the time learning about different job opportunities in the field of law enforcement. Students rotated through three different department areas and had the chance to get some hands-on experience dusting for fingerprints and comparing pictures of bullets for a match. This was a great experience for our students to meet law enforcement officers and ask questions that could influence their futures.

HUSD launched a new series of Career Readiness Workshops specially designed for students in our CTE programs. The first of five workshops will take students through a professional development training related to the essential and transferable skills being highlighted across all of HUSDs CTE programs this year including; Communication, Problem Solving, Teamwork, and Professionalism. Today, CTE Construction Tech students at Sultana participated in the first workshop where they learned how employers define each of the essential skills in the workplace and then took personal inventory of how they're mastering each of them within their CTE classes. Future workshops launching over the coming months include; Resume Writing, Job Searching, Preparing for Your Interview, and concluding with Mock Interviews hosted by our industry partners in the spring.

Mojave High School welcomes new students from throughout HUSD into our amazing program which helps students get ahead, or catch up, via our credit recovery program! Eight times a year MHS onboard new students into our positive Coyote school culture through the staff-designed “New Student Orientation Program” to help show students MHS expectations and goals. Our "Coyote Connections Program" is another student-assistance program that helps administrators, counselors, the school nurse, HUSD school police, our school secretaries, ASB students and more introduce themselves and explain their roles to provide the most supportive environment we can to our new coyotes! MHS also uses a cutting-edge artificial intelligence system to create individualized profiles for each student to help staff quickly understand each student's unique needs and goals to ultimately and increase engagement and enhance student success. Go Coyotes!

For today's #SchoolSiteHighlight we are going to Hollyvale. At Hollyvale Innovation Academy, every student and staff member belongs to one of four groups called Nests. These Nests are like teams where everyone participates and feels connected. Nests provide a sense of belonging, foster friendships, and promote positive school culture. They encourage students to develop character traits like resilience, innovation, support, and equity. Students earn points for their Nest by demonstrating positive behaviors and academic success. The Nest with the most points each week is recognized and celebrated. Nests meet regularly for activities, learning, and building community. Nests create a strong sense of belonging and support. Students develop positive character traits through the reward system. Healthy competition encourages teamwork and effort.

#SchoolSiteHighlight Yesterday was Topaz's annual Pancakes with Patriots event. As always, it was a huge success with a free breakfast for veterans and first responders, a symbolic missing table, student choir singing performances, and a flag ceremony from OHHS JROTC. Topaz Tiger students and staff organized and ran the entire event. Great job Tigers! And a heartfelt thank-you to our veterans and first responders!
