Five of our Sultana construction and woodworking students are participating in an Experiential Learning Program Internship through HUSD and facilitated by Silverwood Project. Their first internship experience was Tuesday, April 2nd and hosted by The City of Hesperia's Public Works. The five students had an amazing time and were able to participate in hands-on experiences and watch live demonstrations. The experience was interactive and gave our students the opportunity to learn about various career fields at The City of Hesperia and ask questions of people who are currently doing jobs they might be interested in for their futures.

HUSD is building new TK buildings at various sites. Phase 1 is at Mission Crest, Maple and Lime St. and should be complete by late 2024. Phase 2 and 3 will follow. This project is to help provide more TK opportunities for our students. This, and many other projects including the HHS community wellness center, are examples of how HUSD is working to provide the best facilities possible for our students and staff.

#SchoolSiteHighlight Today we are at Maple School of Innovation in Mrs. Williams 3rd grade class. These Mountain Lions are working in groups on fractions using CGI strategies. Group leaders presented how to share food items like brownies evenly using fractions. The class gave feedback and utilized critical thinking to master standards. Real world application and critical thinking is the best way to learn!

#SchoolSiteHighlight Today we are at Lime St Elementary. We visited the 3rd Grade PLC for their Habitat learning event. 5 teachers helped their students decorate their classrooms to create classroom habitats: Desert, Rain Forest, Ocean, Grasslands & Safari. Students rotate from class to class learning about the habitat and completing learning activities. What a fun way to engage in Science standards!
All schools and district offices will be closed for Spring Break from March 25th to March 29th and reopen Monday, April 1st.
At the Hesperia Unified School District's board meeting, Chief Hinojos, Officer Brosowske, and Officer Lacey were presented with certificates of excellence from Daniel Marmolejo representing San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. They were recognized for their assistance in their annual active shooter training. Officers Brosowske and Lacey trained hundreds of county employees on active shooter preparedness and how to respond in emergency situations. This is another example of our police department’s dedication to safe schools!
