Today's #SchoolSiteHighlight takes us to Cottonwood Elementary where we are highlighting their Friend's of Rachel Club. The club is led by Ms. McAnulty and is focused on creating leaders who spread positivity and kindness throughout the campus. In today's class they talked about choosing positive influences and the students were asked to highlight those in their lives that were positive influences. Themes are chosen by the students themselves and are reactionary to what they see needs focus around campus. So far they have held events like Unity Day and another event where they made a gift basket for pets at the local animal shelter. Ms. McAnulty is doing a great job teaching these students to be positive leaders at school and the impact on campus can be seen. Great job students!

Today's #SchoolSiteHighlight takes us to Joshua Circle Elementary where we are highlighting their student ambassadors. This year's ambassadors, who are elected by their peers, are Scarlett, Emily, Johnathan, Alex, Aubrey, Robert, Sari, Kaylee, and Eliana. They are led by teacher Devon Johnson and site coach Ally Ross. Their current project is Unity Day on Earth Day in which they plan to make friendship bracelets for other students among other activities. They also work with "Kinder Buddies" where they help Kindergartners work on social skills like sharing and using words to ask for items. These students do a wonderful job fostering student unity at their school. Great job Joshua Circle student ambassadors!

A group of 10 students from our CTE Criminal Justice pathway at Hesperia High School visited the Victorville Courthouse last week. They were treated with a tour through the entire process from when individuals are cited, arrested, or have court dates for various reasons, etc. all the way through to their time in front of a judge. They got to speak with various professionals in the courthouse including bailiffs, sheriff deputies, courtroom clerks, judges, and lawyers. It was a great trip filled with opportunity for our CTE students to learn about both sworn and non-sworn careers associated with criminal justice and the wide variety of public service careers that are out there.

Today we will be live streaming soccer from Oak Hills High who will be playing Sultana High. Tune in at 4:30PM here: https://www.oakhillsbulldogs.com/o/oak-hills-high-school/page/live-stream-and-media
